Hello there!
Welcome to Integrated Science! My name is Ms. Beaupré and I teach 5 of the 6 Integrated Science sections. I started teaching at Hingham High School in 2014. FYI- my name is French. You pronounce it "bow-pray" ("bow" like "bow and arrow"). I have a Bachelor of Arts in Biology degree from Colby College. I did a concentration in Neuroscience, as well as one in Cell & Molecular Biology/Biochemistry. I minored in Anthropology. I earned my Master of Arts in Teaching degree at Boston University. My focus was Science Education. |
I first became interested in teaching when I realized how much I enjoyed working with kids as a Girl Scout leader. My first job as an educator was teaching high school biology at Phoenix Charter Academy in Chelsea, MA. Students there faced a lot of personal and academic challenges preventing them from succeeding- everything from truancy and court involvement, to being a teen parent, recent immigrant, and homeless. Out of that experience I learned the importance of building a positive classroom culture and communicating clearly. I expect full effort, but I'm also here to help. Don't hesitate to speak up if you need something, especially if you have a solution in mind. My goal is to help everyone learn how to do science and enjoy the process. |
Science is my passion in life! I love learning about how systems work- especially in living things. I've worked for several years in the lab as a research assistant. I spent a summer at the National Institutes of Health studying beta thalassemia (a genetic blood disorder). Then I spent two years at Mass General Hospital researching microscopy, kidney cells, and necrotizing enterocolitis (gut infection in prematurely born infants). Right before working as a teacher in Hingham, I spent three years at Boston Children's Hospital researching eczema and food allergies.

During summers in grad school, I worked as a beekeeper in Boston. I helped people maintain honey bee hives and taught classes about beekeeping and honey bee health. Now beekeeping is just a hobby of mine. I also am a faculty advisor for the HHS Green Team- a sustainability club.
Besides taking care of my beehives, I love gardening, baking, doing crafts, and playing video games. My favorites are any Zelda, Banjo Kazooie, Stardew Valley, Mario Kart, Fable, Halo, Portal, and Smash Bros. |
